U-32 Rolling Raiders

U-32 Rolling Club

U-32 is offering a club activity during the month of November which we are calling the U-32 Rolling Raiders. The club is designed for anyone who is interested in organized roller-blading or roller-skiing. No experience is necessary, but this is not a free-skate or skateboarding activity. Both high school and middle school students are welcome.

The club will meet (weather permitting) after school from 3:00 until 4:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. This activity cannot be done safely if it is raining hard, or if the parking lot is icy. Also, if salt has been applied to the paved area the activity cannot happen as the salt ruins the wheels.

Everyone will meet in the "ski hallway" by the visiting locker rooms to learn the plan for the day. The first meetings will take place in the U-32 parking lot, but later we will travel to other areas (such as Murray Hill). We will need parent help to transport students to sites off-campus, and to help bringing athletes down steep hills.

The school has a large collection of roller blades and a very few pairs of roller skis. The school equipment can be used on a day-to-day basis. If you own your own roller skis or blades, please bring them so that kids that don't have them can use the school's equipment.

Head protection (in the form of a bike or skateboarding helmet) is required. The school has about 20 helmets that we can loan, but it is best for participants to bring their own bike helmets. We have a few pads to protect elbows, hands and knees for novice rollers but kids should bring their own if they them have them.

If you would like to use ski poles and you own your own please bring them. We will only be loaning poles to novice skiers.

Anyone interested in participating in the after-school Rolling Raiders should make sure that they have completed the Sports Participation paperwork. Please see Amy Molina if you aren't sure if you have turned it in.

First Day of the Rolling Raiders will be Monday, Oct 31st, weather permitting!!!
